Incredible humpback whale sightings

We have been truly blessed this past week of the most amazing humpback whale & dolphin encounters here at Port St John's.  We have not known which direction to look in when surrounded by 2 species of dolphin at the same time and seeing humpback whales meeting up with families along their migratory trip back home to Antarctic.

We were taken by surprise by a very curious humpback whale which only showed its presence once it had taken a good look at what we were, much to the delight of our group on board the boat.............

We are truly privileged to be exploring and living in such an incredibly beautiful place, which is Port St John's, Wild Coast, Transkei.............the home of the annual sardine run....................

Incredible ocean experience day today

What an incredible ocean experience day we had today.  An ocean experience can best be described as a game drive.  You simply never know what you are going to see and whatever you see is an absolute delight!!!

4 Humpback whales, 2 of which were seriously chilled.  A massive pod of bottlenose & common dolphins mixed and Cape Gannets diving into a shoal of red eye sardines.  All of this topped with a windless, warm and flat ocean day.........................It does not get better here on the Wild Coast, Port St John's, Transkei...........

Incredible humpback whale encounters

We have had incredible humpback whale encounters with 5 humpback whales coming together to greet, with much display of gentle diving, rolling over to display flukes, spy hopping and swimming around one another.  What a privilege!!! All of this on a warm, windless day with a flat ocean.
